Play Therapist will provide trauma-informed therapeutic interventions to children ages 3-12, supporting their emotional, social, and developmental well-being. Working closely with caregivers, internal teams, and external partners, creating a safe space for children to express themselves through play and develop coping strategies for life’s challenges. The Play Therapist works as part of the Community Healing & Wellness multi-disciplinary team supporting and executing holistic care plans for each child to enhance psycho-emotional, educational and social success.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of counselling programs and interventions, and clients' progress in resolving identified problems and movement toward defined objectives.
- Develop and implement counselling and intervention programs to assist clients in determining goals and means of attaining them.
- Establish an environment where children can explore and heal through play in a trauma-informed setting.
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure wraparound supports for children and families, including warm referrals to internal and external services.
- Educate and guide parents/guardians throughout their child’s therapy journey, ensuring a collaborative and supportive approach.
- Preferred: Master’s degree in psychology, Social Work, or Counselling.
- Secondary: Bachelor’s degree in social work with five (5) plus years’ experience in counselling may be considered.
- Registration with the appropriate, applicable professional designation will be required.
- Able to write comprehensive assessments and maintain appropriate clinical/client/administrative records are required.
- Must belong to a relevant Professional Association or in the process of submitting application.
- Valid drivers license required.
- Must pass a yearly Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
