Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (L.M.F.T)
Description

The Marriage and Family Therapist will help individuals, couples, and families address relationship problems and mental health conditions by diagnosing, treating, and facilitating communication. The Marriage & Family Therapist will create and execute treatment plans, maintain client records, and may consult with other professionals for guidance. They will work with a wide range of clients and situations, including marital conflicts, communication problems, parenting difficulties, and emotional disturbances within the family system. They may also work with individuals facing personal issues or mental health concerns.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual, couple, and family therapy sessions to help clients navigate relationship challenges, communicate effectively, and address mental health concerns.
  • Create individualized treatment plans that address specific client needs and goals, using evidence-based interventions.
  • Help clients understand and improve communication patterns, reduce conflict, and build healthier relationships.
  • Keep detailed and confidential client records, including session notes and treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with other therapists, doctors, and specialists to provide comprehensive care.
  • Provide clients with information about relationship dynamics, mental health, and available resources.
  • Registration with the appropriate, applicable professional designation will be required.
  • Able to write comprehensive assessments and maintain appropriate clinical/client/administrative records are required.
  • Sound knowledge on counselling practices; able to maintain strict confidentiality; and able to demonstrate strong ethical judgements.
Qualifications
  • Master’s or doctoral degree in Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • Two years of professional work experience in marriage and family therapy.
  • Registration with the appropriate, applicable professional designation will be required.
  • Valid drivers license required.
  • Must pass a yearly Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
