Responsible for positively and effectively contributing to the Mission and Vision of the Onion Lake Detox Centre. The RN must be willing to cooperate with employees, students, and volunteers in translating our purpose into our programs and services in a manner that serves our clients’ needs.
Reports to: Program Manager
- Provides on call support for staff in rotation with other on call nursing staff.
- Develops and manages ongoing relations with nurse practitioner, physicians, pharmacists and other health care providers.
- Ensures the safety and medical practices of all nursing staff are compliant with provincial licensing and applicable provincial regulatory bodies.
- Works closely with the Nurse Practitioner and nursing staff regarding client health care and serves as the liaison for medical needs and information.
- Reviews medical treatment plans and consults and coordinates, when necessary, with all clinical staff.
- Ensures that all clients’ health care needs and concerns are being addressed.
- Responsible for ensuring proper medication reconciliation and administration practices are being followed for both controlled and regular medications.
- Assists the nursing staff with the delivery of Health-related program and content.

Report and document incidents, adverse events and/or near misses according to practice setting guidelines and policies.
- Completion of a university, college or other approved registered nursing program is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS); Injectable Naloxone and nasal naloxone up to date.
- Minimum 3 years nursing experience. Previous experience in the area of mental health and/or addictions preferred.
- Strong morals and ethics along with a commitment to staff and client confidentiality and safety.
- Valid Driver’s License, Driver’s abstract, Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.
