DESCRIPTION:Join us on Friday\, May 5th\, 2023 for Onion Lake Cree Nation’s 3rd MMIW/MMIP RUN. \n\n\n\nThe day will begin with a prayer ceremony for runners at 8:00 AM\, followed by a walk from Chief Taylor Parking Lot to Kihew Waciston at 9:30 AM. The runners will then start their journey from Kihew Waciston to the MMIW/MMIP Site at 10:00 AM\, arriving at 10:45 AM. The program will begin with open remarks at 11:00 AM\, hosted by Mr. Grant Whitstone as the Master of Ceremonies. \n\n\n\nThe program will include an honor song and MMIW song by SHS Drum Group and community members\, planting of the tree(s)\, songs by Onion Lake Ladies and Saskaskohc High School Drum Group\, and speeches by Chief and Council\, Education Board Member Rhonda Cardinal\, Janet Trottier for MMIW/MMIP\, and Lianna MacDonald for families. \n\n\n\nThe day will conclude with closing remarks by the MMIW/MMIP Committee at 12:30 PM\, followed by lunch. The OLHBI Surveyors will start going door to door September 21\, 2022 and will continue until the end of October 2022. \n\n\n\nThe goal is to have every household in Onion Lake have the opportunity to complete the survey. Follow up phone calls may be arranged to complete the survey over the phone if required. \n\n\n\nEnter to win a $500 Gift Card when you complete the census. Draws will take place on Facebook Live place every two weeks until it is complete.
